Symrise, the German manufacturer of ingredients for the flavour and fragrance (F&F) industry, has opened a new creation and development centre in Mumbai. The new centre is part of the company’s strategy to grow in the Asia Pacific region by investing in key high growth markets and focusing on operational excellence. “We have been a part of India’s growth story for more than two decades now and we are delighted to further strengthen this relationship with the inauguration of the creative centre. In 2016, we achieved growth of 15 percent in developing markets. Over the medium term, we want to secure a share of sales of over 50 percent,” commented Dr Heinz- Jurgen Bertram, CEO, Symrise. The new Mumbai creative centre complements Symrise’s existing Chennai creative centre and, thus, gives a boost to the company. The Mumbai centre, which houses state-of-the-art development lab for fragrances and cosmetic ingredients, will serve as national hub for oral care & cosmetic ingredient development. It will allow Symrise to co-develop innovative fragrances, oral care flavours and cosmetic ingredients. With sales of more than € 2.9 billion in 2016, Symrise is one of the leading players in the global flavours and fragrances market. Its clients include manufacturers of perfumes, cosmetics, food and beverages, pharma and producers of nutritional supplements and pet food.
