BRAU BEVIALE
2011 |
|
|
|
Date: 9 - 11 November
2011
Venue:
Nuremberg, Germany
Brau Beviale 2011 – from 9–11 November in
the Exhibition Centre Nuremberg – is the
world’s most important capital goods
exhibition for the beverage (both alcoholic
and non-alcoholic) industry this year. A
good 1,300 exhibitors from over 40 countries
provide information about new developments
and improvements in beverage raw materials,
technologies, logistics and marketing for
the expected 32,000 trade visitors. But Brau
Beviale is far more than just a show of
products. Experts also appreciate the
exhibition as a forum where they can
exchange views at international level on
developments in the global beverage markets
and make sound preparation for investment
decisions.
New in 2011: The two leading exhibitions for
the beverage industry, drinktec in Munich
and Brau Beviale, are cooperating in the PET
segment. The background to the cooperation
is the exceptionally fast innovation cycle
in this field. PETpoint, the PET segment of
drinktec, is therefore also present at Brau
Beviale in Nürnberg starting in 2011 – with
raw materials, preform manufacture, stretch
blow-moulding technology, filling systems,
closure production, labelling, recycling and
accessories.
A spectacular Brau Beviale promotion tour is
being organized by the magazine PETplanet
Insider to actively drum up visitors for the
exhibition and naturally advertise the
packaging material PET. The trip takes in
key markets in Eastern Europe, which are
currently excelling with steady economic
growth of approx. 4 %
(www.ost-ausschuss.de). The expedition
vehicle bearing bold letters urging “Go to
Brau Beviale” will start out from the
Exhibition Centre Nuremberg on its journey
to the East on 3 October with two members of
the editorial staff on board. Their trip
takes them through Austria, Slovenia,
Croatia, Serbia, Bulgaria, Turkey, Armenia,
Azerbaijan(yes, a meeting with the
Eurovision Song Contest winners is
planned!), Romania and Hungary, and back to
Nürnberg again in time for the start of the
exhibition. During the trip they will visit,
interview and photograph major PET bottlers
and collect typical PET bottles from the
various countries for subsequently
presenting at the exhibition. What the two
experience on their tour will be documented
online from the 3 October (www.petpla.net).
What awaits them afterwards at Brau Beviale
– after a hearty reception and a good shower
– will be experts from all over Europe
interested in PET! The vehicle will be
parked at the heart of the exhibition. Those
who would like to know more can get
information in the adventurous survival
flair at the public viewing. Sitting on
camping seats, they can review the tour as a
slide show with a tour diary and admire the
highly international PET bottle collection
from the countries visited on the shelves
opposite.

BIOFACH INDIA 2011 |
|
 |
|
(International Organic Trade Fair)
Date: 10 - 12 November
2011
Venue:
Bangalore, India
India is preparing to become the most important organic
producer and a large consumer region. So the time is
ripe for international organic players – producers as
well as traders – to develop the Indian market. In 2010,
over 100 exhibitors and 2,860 trade visitors travelled
to the only exhibition for certified organic products on
the Indian subcontinent, BioFach India together with
India Organic, which takes place next time in Bangalore
from 10–12 November 2011. But what is necessary for a
successful market entry and exhibition presence? What
support do interested companies receive on the ground?
And what products are particularly in demand? Interview
with Sonia Prashar, who together with her team at the
Indo-German Chamber of Commerce provides local support
for the organizer of BioFach India.
The domestic consumption of organic food is still
comparatively small, but with the growing health
awareness of consumers the segment shows good potential
for expansion with excellent prospects for the players
in this branch of industry. Now is exactly the right
time to enter the market. India’s organic sector is
growing just like the consumer base. The major reason
for a commitment in India is the noticeable growth in
the consumption of organic food. Clear proof of this is
the opening of many new shops. Today, every large Indian
city has many organic food shops and restaurants and a
growing number of supermarkets with an organic food
department. Interested companies should certainly
examine the Indian import regulations in advance – and
as early as possible! It is also essential to consider
the special cultural and religious aspects for a
successful involvement in the market. These often
influence the market prospects of imported products.
Agencies dealing with supply chain management and sales
are strongly represented. There is also a clear
connection between market growth and the development of
retail sales outlets like supermarkets and shops selling
exclusively organic products. India is an important
organic marketplace and at the same time a valuable
supplier of certified organic raw materials for the
international food industry. It is to be expected that
India will not only be one of the major producers of
organic food in the near future, but also one of the
consumers. Also remarkable are the many government
initiatives for promoting the Indian organic sector. One
good example of these is the support provided for
BioFach India together with India Organic 2011 by the
Ministry of Agriculture of the state of Karnataka.
In general, organic agriculture in India is promoted
very strongly by the government, which has recently
started a wide range of initiatives. For example, the
whole certification programme for small and very small
farms or cooperatives is financially supported by
programmes of the Indian Ministry of Agriculture. The
authority and official Indian export promotion
organization APEDA (www.apeda.gov.in), which reports to
the Ministry of Commerce, remains the central agency for
promoting organic trade. The whole certification
programme is controlled at state level by 20 accredited
bodies. The National Steering Committee chaired by the
Commerce Minister has planned and approved the National
Programme for Organic Production (NPOP), from which
national standards have been developed. This programme
also includes the Accreditation Programme for
Certification Authorities, standards for organic
production and the promotion of organic agriculture. The
European Commission and Switzerland have recognized the
NPOP production standards and the accreditation system.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture has also rated the
conformity criteria applied for accreditation purposes
as equivalent to its own, which simplifies international
trade. The national logo for organic products designed
on behalf of the Indian government is also part of the
programme.
The chambers of foreign trade are generally a suitable
source of information. German companies interested in
India should contact the Chamber of Commerce in Delhi.
Internationally operating certifiers or national
(grower) associations with international know-how can
also support newcomers. The organizer of BioFach India
together with India Organic, NürnbergMesse, and die
Indo-German Chamber of Commerce, the partner for the
exhibition, are always pleased to provide information.
Another prominent source of information in India is the
International Competence Centre of Organic Agriculture
(ICCOA), the co-organizer of BioFach India.
As generally known, basmati rice, pulses, honey, tea,
spices, coffee, oilseed and fruit form the heart of
Indian organic production, plus processed food, corn,
herbal drugs, cotton clothing, cosmetics and body care
products too. International buyers find a wide range in
this segment. Interesting aspects for manufacturers are
the large potential and excellent sales prospects the
market offers for convenience foods, pasta, wine,
cooking oil, chocolate and ice cream.

INDIA PACKAGING SHOW
2011 |
|
 |
Date: 7 - 10 December
2011
Venue:
NSIC Exhibition Grounds, New Delhi, India
India Packaging Show, the country's most
successful packaging event will be back with
its 2011 edition next winter at New Delhi,
and this time at a new venue. The Show,
organized by Print-Packaging.Com (P) Ltd.,
is scheduled from December 7-10, 2011 at
NSIC Exhibition Centre, Okhla Industrial
Estate at New Delhi.
Spread over 47 acres of prime land, the NSIC
Exhibition Ground is strategically located
and has lush green surroundings in the posh
South Delhi area, which enjoys very good
connectivity from International Airport, New
Delhi Railway Stations and commercial place
like Connaught Place and Nehru Place.
The show aims to bring together the
worldwide manufacturers and providers of
machinery, materials and services for food,
pharma and packaging industry from India and
neighboring countries.
The Exhibition will bring together the
Packaging Zone, Processing Zone and Supply
Chain Zone together in one Show. The
converting Zone will not be a part of the
India Packaging Show 2011 as it will move to
Mumbai to be held separately in November.
"The separation of the converting segment
from end user packaging for a year is being
done in deference to the exhibitor feedback
and will help us renew our focus on the
distinct visitor segment that we target for
our exhibitors with varying clientele. This
should help us give more value to both our
exhibitors and visitors not only in this
show but also in the future when the segment
goes back into the fold of PackPlus," said
Neetu Arora.
Meanwhile, the focus at India Packaging Show
2011 will also be on the Food Technology
Show that is being held in collaboration
with the All India Food Processors
Association.
